How it is calculated
Deployment rate = capital deployed ÷ investable capital
Use investable capital rather than headline fund size when fees and expenses are excluded from the investment budget.
What this tells you
Read the result in context
Deployment rate shows how much of the investable pool has been committed to portfolio companies. It does not by itself show deployment speed, investment quality or follow-on obligations.
Frequently asked questions
Why use investable capital instead of fund size?
Fund size can include capital expected to pay fees and expenses, which may not be available for investments.
Can deployed capital exceed investable capital?
Not in this simple model. If recycling or leverage changes available capital, adjust the investable-capital denominator.
Does this include committed but unfunded deals?
Only if you include them in the deployed-capital input; use one definition consistently.
