How it is calculated
Deployment rate = capital deployed ÷ investable capital
If the investment budget excludes fees and costs, use that budget rather than the full fund size.
Read the result in context
Fund deployment shows how much of the budget a manager has put into companies. It does not show whether those deals are good or well timed. It also does not show whether reserves for follow-on deals are enough.
What does fund deployment mean?
It means putting the fund budget into investments. Use the same definition of deployed capital for every figure you compare.
Can deployed capital exceed investable capital?
Not in this simple model. If recycled cash or borrowing changes how much the fund can invest, update the investable-capital input.
Does this include committed but unfunded deals?
Only if you count them in the deployed-capital input. Use the same definition throughout.
